Phone call just now from a shop that we deal with a lot, but has been having issues with new office girls:

Me: “Rancho [rest of dealership name] part’s this is [ !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ] how can I help you?”

Customer: “Yes I am [name] calling from [local shop] we are restoring a 1969 Ford Ranchero and we are seeing what kind of parts you could get for that.”

Me: “Well I can’t get anything for that”

Cust: “For a Ranchero? I looked online and your name came up”

Me: “Yes, that is a Ford product. We are a GM, Subaru, and Hyundai dealer. You’ll need Ford if they can still get parts for a vehicle of that vintage.”

Cust: “Oh well you had the same name, so I thought you could get parts.”

Me: “..... (dumbfounded) No sorry, have a nice day”

People... WTF?! This person thought the dealership name of Rancho meant I would have Ford Ranchero parts....

I’m confused, did the person on the phone mistakenly call you because he or she

1) saw Rancho and thought it was referring to his or her car

2) get your number confused with Rancho’s Ford dealership?

She was calling for Ranchero parts to us because our name contains Rancho.... So she thought we could get Ranchero parts.....

Still got it, though description is not accurate. Quite. Some Mustang suspension and steering pieces, and Mustang front bumper, but Ranchero original bodywork (narrowed fenders on front edge), and some custom pieces like a front roll pan. Moving very slowly, as the last few months I had to concentrate on a bathroom remodel and a couple of issues with the Galaxie that I needed to address first (and took a long time getting to). Specifically, the trunk rust repair I’ve started into.
